OUR PLANTATIONS

It starts with precious seedlings.

With suitable conditions of soil and climate, professional care over many years, minimization of loss risks through multiplication of growing sites and little bit of luck, we are in a position to keep hundreds of thousands of first-class Christmas trees of all species ready to be delivered to you.

For the sake of the environment, we use many new procedures. Thus for the most part we avoid the use of chemical treatments. "Shropshire" sheep keep the plantations free from grass.

Our partner in spruce production has been 8 times world runner-up and in 1978 was world champion in tree felling and debarking. A background like that guarantees quality. He has a special knack for planting, caring for and shaping trees. He is now in well-merited retirement. Luckily, we were able to take over his plantations...

...so that a large number of the world champion's trees are now available for the years to come.

After 7 to 10 years, the tree is the right size, and we can harvest the finest specimens.

It starts in the nursery bed.

Only the best plants are selected, and these are planted out, spaced about 1.20 x l.20m apart.

Slowly the plantations grow.

After the less attractive trees have been thinned out and transformed into decorations and trimming foliage...

...the results of the consistent care and upkeep of the plantations becomes plain.

Sturdy, dynamic trees 9 years old grow up to fulfil their destiny.

At the same time, these trees filter large amounts of pollutants out of the air and release fresh oxygen into the environment. Thank you, nature – you're fantastic!

Now comes the time when they are sorted into strict quality classes. But see for yourself: aren't those simply top-class trees?

We have provided a little care and facilitated the growth of the tree. But by far the greater part was done by the Creator working through his marvellous system of nature.

It all starts on a small scale over a large area

6 - 7 years after planting, the great moment comes. Using strict criteria, quality labels are distributed:
- 5-star tree (unique in Europe)
- 1st choice
- 2nd choice

Larger Nordmann firs begin their growth in a pot let into the ground.

2 years after planting, the young saplings are already perking up.

After 4 years of care, it can be seen which ones are going to make a proper tree.

Over many years, our partners selected the seed that has now been successfully used in our plantations for more than three decades.

Our special attention goes to a happy combination of fine growth and blue coloration.

Today, we achieve a proportion of about 60% of blue plants. The saplings are taken up with their roots as potted trees.

That is how top-class trees grow.

The large blue spruces are harvested as cut trees.

The trees are packed for transport by special machines.
